HP Promotes Software President to Chief Strategy Officer

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HP) has appointed current HP Software president Bill Veghte as HP’s new chief strategy officer, the company announced Tuesday.

HP said Veghte will hold both positions and is now responsible for maintaining the company’s position “on the cutting edge of innovation.”

HP said Veghte will work with the company’s senior technology and business leaders to the information technology industry’s future. He will also lead the company’s cloud and webOS open source initiatives.

“As we move forward, HP intends to stay on top, and I believe Bill has the knowledge and vision to keep us there, ” said HP President and CEO Meg Whitman.

Veghte joined HP in 2010 after spending nearly two decades at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) in leadership positions.
