URS Corp. (NYSE: URS) has acquired CATI Training Systems, a developer of virtual training systems and visual flight simulation environments, for an undisclosed amount.

The companies have previously worked together on multiple contracts.

URS said in its announcement that CATI’s team of a dozen engineers and software developers also develop technologies that support aviation training and simulation systems for unmanned aircraft systems.

Randall Wotring, president of federal services for URS, said CATI helps operate the Predator series of remotely piloted aircraft. Wotring said URS made the move to add “flexible and high fidelity training for programs vital to our national security.”

Daleville, Ala.-based CATI’s customers include the Defense Department and commercial customers.
