Lockheed Wins $53M Modification to Support IED Work in Afghanistan

The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) a $53, 360, 078 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification, the Pentagon announced Dec. 23.

On the award, Lockheed will support the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, which works to develop counter-IED training for U.S. troops.

Work will be performed in Afghanistan and Ellicott City, Md. and is expected to end on Dec. 8, 2013.

BAE Systems and SAIC Inc. (NYSE: SAI) recently won prime positions on a $900 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to support the organization.
