DISA on the Prowl for Telecommunications Network Provider

The Defense Information Systems Agency is seeking carriers who can provide the Defense Department with a global telecommunications network.

DISA has extended a request for information to Nov. 4 for a contract that will replace a $3 billion award handed down to SAIC Inc. (NYSE: SAI) and Apptis in 2001.

The ceiling on that award was raised twice, most recently to $4.8 billion in March 2010.

DISA indicated that it will need a carrier capable of delivering high value services with competitive pricing.
