PAETEC to Provide Voice, Data, Internet Communications to Fort Detrick, Md.

PAETEC (NASDAQ: PAET) has been awarded a five-year contract by the U.S. Army to provide voice, data and secure Internet access network services to Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md.

Fort Detrick is home to the Army’s Medical Research and Materiel Command and Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, which researches and develops medical solutions to biological threats.

PAETEC will provide voice services utilizing multiple network access points. This will virtually eliminate network-caused interruptions on more than 10, 000 phone lines, the company said.

The company will also provide private Ethernet data network services and secure Internet access services to allow military and civilian personnel located at the military facility to communicate with off-base institutions.

“For years, our advanced, reliable, and cost effective solutions have been embraced by both military and civilian agencies within the federal government, ” said Mike Magliato, PAETEC’s vice president of government markets. “Our focus on customized solutions, in-depth knowledge of the specific needs of the military, as well as understanding of government requirements, make us a strategic partner for IT leaders within the Federal government.”
