General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) wholly-owned subsidiary Electric Boat was awarded a $23 million work order by the U.S. Navy to support submarine repair work at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Va.
About 880 Electric Boat trades employees will be assigned to maintenance activities on USS Newport News and USS West Virginia.
Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is scheduled to be completed by September 2012.
The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, Groton, Conn., is the contracting activity.
