URS Releases Quarterly Financial Results; Koffel Comments

URS Corp. (NYSE: URS) released its second quarter fiscal 2011 financial results on August 9.

The company reported quarterly net income increased a 7.9 percent to $66.8 million from $61.9 million in the second quarter of 2010. 

URS generated $2.36 billion in quarterly revenues, up from $2.25 billion in the prior year period.

Diluted earnings per share were $0.86, a 13.2 percent increase over $0.76 in the second quarter of last year.

“We continued to benefit from our strategy to build a diversified business which, today, serves four key market sectors, ” said Martin M. Koffel, URS chairman and CEO.  ‘Revenues from our industrial and commercial business … grew significantly. Our federal sector revenues also increased, reflecting continued demand for our specialized engineering and technical services.”
