SAIC Wins $45M to Plan, Manage Airborne Communications for Tactical Navy Operations

SAIC (NYSE: SAI) has won a $45 million follow-on task order by U.S. Naval Air Systems Command to provide technical, engineering and logistics support to NAVAIR’s air combat electronics program.

The company will plan and manage voice and data communication among aircrew in support of tactical and strategic operations.

SAIC will support the PMA-209 communications and airborne networking team, which is responsible for concept, technology, and system development.

The order was awarded on the Navy’s SeaPort-e contract and has one base year and five one-year options.

Work will performed primarily at NAVAIR’s Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Md.

“We look forward to continuing our support of PMA-209 and its critical mission, ” said Jim Thigpen, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “Our expert engineering, logistics and program management support will help enable the fleet to remain on the cutting edge of aviation communications technology.”
