General Dynamics Wins $900M Air Force IDIQ for Wideband Communications Program

General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) C4 systems business unit has won a maximum $900 million U.S. Air Force indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to support the global broadcast service joint program.

The program provides high-speed channels to transmit real-time wideband information, including data packets, imagery and videos too large for standard channels, to deployed and garrisoned U.S. forces.

The company will provide the program with up to 1, 500 new receive suites and approximately 1, 100 retrofit kits for fielded systems.

The suites pack receive terminal antennas, receive broadcast management and cryptographic equipment into mobile transit cases.

Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., is the contracting activity.

“The global broadcast service suite provides secure and reliable broadcast services to warfighters who operate in harm’s way, ” said Bill Weiss, vice president and general manager of communication networks for General Dynamics C4 Systems. “General Dynamics C4 Systems looks forward to delivering this important capability to soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen who depend on it to carry out their critical missions.”
