Northrop to Provide Situational Awareness Systems for 52 Air Force Aircraft

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) a $65 million contract to provide tactical situational awareness to airlift aircrews.

The company will provide mobility air forces dynamic re-tasking capability urgent operational need systems for installation in 28 C-130J and 24 C-17 aircraft.

Northrop will also provide two years of training and payload support at four integration sites in the United States and three overseas locations.

The MAF DRC system includes a secure line-of-sight and beyond line-of-sight datalink, pilot and co-pilot display systems, a processor and server for command and control of radios and displays and presentation and recording of existing host aircraft navigational system data.

Work is expected to be completed by June 30, 2012.
