General Dynamics to Further Renovate, Modernize USS Harpers Ferry

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics-National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. (NYSE: GD), San Diego, Calif., an $11, 705, 854 contract modification for the USS Harpers Ferry fiscal 2011 extended docking phased maintenance availability.

NASSCO will extensively renovate and modernize the LSD-class ship with alterations and repairs. It will also inspect and test all ship systems and components.

Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by July 2012.  The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity.
