Harris Wins $14M DoD Battlefield Communications Order, Follows on Air Force, Marine Crops and Army Orders

Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has received a $23 million order to supply the U.S. Defense Department with additional Falcon III multiband, multimission, software-defined radios compatible with suite b encryption.  The order addresses interoperability challenges presented in coalition and inter-agency operations.

The Defense Department will use the RF-310M-HH radios to simplify communications interoperability and information security handling in ground-based applications.

The RF-310M-HH is  a non-controlled cryptographic item, which allows a wide-range of U.S. personnel and coalition partners to use it. The radio is interoperable with police and other emergency response organizations.

“With its programmable encryption technology, software communications architecture and coverage of the entire 30-512 MHz frequency range, the RF-310M-HH addresses interoperability challenges presented in coalition and inter-agency operations, ” said Brendan O’Connell, president of Harris RF Communications’ Department of Defense business.  “The RF-310M is based upon the same platform as the NSA-certified Type-1 AN/PRC-152(C).  This will allow for commonality in logistics and reduced administrative and training costs.”
