Army Awards DRS, L-3 $953M in Rifle Laser Contracts

The U.S. Army has awarded DRS RSTA, Inc., Melbourne, Fla., and L-3 Insight Technology, Inc., Londonderry, N.H.,   firm-fixed-price contracts worth a combined $953, 093, 229 for small tactical optical rifle mounted micro-laser range finders.

Each company will provide between 150 and 32, 000 range finders. DRS’ contract is for $514, 278, 650 and L-3’s contract is for $438, 814, 579.

Bids were solicited through the Internet with three bids received.

The contracts have expected completion dates of May 31, 2016. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., is the contracting activity
