IBM Announces New Resources to Smooth Transition to Software

In a bid to lure Oracle customers, IBM announced Friday new resources to help customers make the transition — or what IBM called “move up” — to IBM software.

The perks include no-charge financial and technology assessments, skills-training courses and a proof-of-concept to perform a side-by-side cost/performance comparison between IBM and its competitor.

Also, to help Oracle clients reduce IT spending and upfront costs, IBM Global Financing announced it would offer zero percent financing for qualified clients who want to make the switch to IBM software.

“Clients are looking to IBM software as an attractive alternative to forced migrations, uncertain product roadmaps, waning levels of support and rising licensing costs, ” said Bernie Spang, IBM Software’s director of strategy. “More importantly, clients find that making the switch to IBM software helps them achieve their business goals faster and more economically.”
