General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. of Groton, Conn., was awarded a $33.5 million modification on a Navy engineering contract for advanced submarine technologies, according to the Defense Department.
GDEB, a division of government-contracting giant General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), is the primary shipbuilder for the Navy’s fleet of submarines.
Advanced submarine research and development includes studies to support the manufacturability, maintainability, producibility, reliability and survivability — among a number of other factors — of the undersea behemoths, DoD said.
