General Dynamics Iron Works Awarded $29.9M Modification on Zumwalt Contract

General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) shipbuilding subsidiary Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, was awarded a not-to-exceed $29.9 million contract modification to a previously awarded contract for material and engineering for the Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyer, according to the Defense Department.

Work will be performed at the shipyard’s headquarters along the Kennebec River in Bath, and is expected to be completed by July 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
