Harris (NYSE:HRS) has a deal in place to purchase Carefx Corporation, a provider of interoperability workflow solutions built on its “Fusionfx” platform, for $155 million.

The move boosts Harris’ government healthcare offering and opens a door into the commercial healthcare market.

The Arizona-based Carefx partners with industry players including IBM and Oracle.

The firm’s Fusionfx platform “is an interoperable, intuitive solution suite that incorporates standards-based technologies and practices to streamline retrieval, access and use of patient information.”

“Carefx has been transforming the way hospitals and healthcare providers achieve interoperability between disparate systems – and achieve federal requirements for Meaningful Use, ” said Jim Traficant, vice president and general manager, Harris Healthcare Solutions.  “By giving clinicians the information they need – where and when they need it – the Fusionfx solution suite creates a seamless end-user experience.”
