ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) was awarded the Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) contract by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center worth a maximum $1.26 billion.
ITT previously won the contract in 2008, 2009 and earlier this year, but the deal had been protested by incumbent Honeywell (NYSE: HON).
The firm will work to support NASA space and near-Earth networks.
According to ITT, “these networks provide most of the communications and tracking services for a wide range of Earth-orbiting spacecraft, including the International Space Station, the space shuttle, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Earth Observing System satellites.”
ITT will lead a team that includes ASRC, Boeing (NYSE: BA) and CSC (NYSE: CSC)
