TASC’s Joe Dodd Breaks Down GovCon Growth Areas

Joe Dodd

TASC business development guru Joe Dodd spoke with ExecutiveBiz about potential growth areas in the market for the coming year:

“I think, increasingly, we’re not seeing so much standalone cyber programs as cyber content pervasively becoming a part of the customer development programs that we support, ” Dodd said. “Whether they’re building a satellite, a ground station, a communication infrastructure, an enterprise IT system — there are always elements of information assurance and cyber defense in each of those broad areas, ” he adds.

Another big growth area is systems engineering and integration (SE&I) support work — a domain that’s busted wide open for TASC since it became an OCI-free entity. TASC recently scored big wins in the SE&I arena, securing key programs with the Air Force Space and Missiles Center in Los Angeles and similar systems engineering and integration support weapons systems development offices in the departments of the Navy, Army, and elsewhere within DoD.

Looking ahead, Dodd’s focused on the next level of growth. “We’ve got to maintain our base of programs by winning every recompete and grow from that base of programs, ” he says. “We often use our stellar reputation on precedent programs to convince new customers that they ought to turn to us.”

Part of that persuasion comes down to a pretty compelling track record: 40 years of program growth, high award fees, and, by and large, no troubled programs. In quarterly and semiannual award briefings on TASC contracts, the company has maintained an average award performance strongly in the 90s. “It’s very consistent across the programs, ” says Dodd.
