ExecutiveBiz spoke with Frederico Genoese-Zerbi, vice president of IT Business Partners, about the relationship between information technology and business:
“Genoese-Zerbi’s own philosophy — of IT as ‘co-equal’ with business — began years ago. At the time, he was director of a leading telecommunications firm, attending a training session, when a new idea was being touted: to call every constituent within the company a ‘customer.’
“I remember thinking, ‘That was the wrong thing to be thinking about, ” Genoese-Zerbi said. “I started thinking about the role of IT and to question the whole notion of being told what to do — rather than being proactive and figuring out the solutions for the company to be successful.”
His own personal belief in “equal partnership” helped lead to double-digit growth at the next company, a wireless operator. It’s now something Genoese-Zerbi, and his team, are bringing to bear at Boeing.”
