Eurosatory 2010: BAE, Northrop Grumman Make Splash on Day 1

BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) are just two of the defense contracting giants presenting at Eurosatory 2010 in Paris this week.

BAE Systems got the proceedings started in style by rolling out the RG41 a new 8×8 addition to the  RG range.

According to the firm, “the RG41 Wheeled Armoured Combat Vehicle features a unique modular mine protected design and integrated independent suspension and driveline. The vehicle is a cost effective and highly versatile, wheeled combat vehicle suitable for multiple theatres. With a semi-V shaped hull, high payload capacity, class leading turning circle and excellent power-to-weight ratio, the RG41 meets demanding mobility and protection requirements.”

Highlighting the RG41’s affordability, the firm noted the advantage of being able to repair the vehicle in the field.

“RG41 offers exceptional protection, capability and flexibility. Current conflicts require maintenance and repairs be done in the field and the RG41’s unique design allows operators to achieve their missions while maximizing vehicle operational readiness. RG41 represents the ultimate synthesis of combat power and affordability, ideal for conventional and unconventional units, ” said Dennis Morris, president of BAE Systems Global Tactical Systems.

Northrop Grumman is also on hand to promote its family of network-centric command and control systems and tactical data link (TDL) technology.

According to the firm, “presentations will be available showing surveillance and intelligence solutions based on the core capabilities of the Integrated Tactical Command and Control system (I-TaCCS) a land, sea and air and dismounted soldier-based C4I solution, and Integrated Joint Operational Command and Control System (I-JOCCS).”

An important event for NGC, the Parisian defense festival provides the American firm with the opportunity to expand its visibility in Europe.

“Northrop Grumman has a strong presence across Europe and Eurosatory gives us the opportunity to showcase the considerable capabilities that we have to offer, ” said John Brooks, president of Northrop Grumman International Inc. “We are committed to our customer base in Europe and look forward to building on the trans-Atlantic industry cooperation and partnerships that we have developed through the Euro Hawk and NATO AGS programmes and to bringing new Northrop Grumman technologies to this important market.”
