SAIC (NYSE: SAI) has been honored as a 2010 Best Corporations for Veteran-Owned Businesses (VOB) by Vetrepreneur magazine, which is published by the National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA).
This is the fifth time in six years SAIC has claimed the honor.
According to SAIC, NaVOBA unites current and future veteran-owned businesses by acting as the national voice for the veteran business community. There are currently three million veteran-owned businesses in the United States, according to the association, which works to encourage corporate America and the government to consider using veteran-owned businesses as preferred vendors.
“At SAIC, we believe veteran-owned businesses bring the needed capabilities and technical know-how to enable SAIC to better serve our customers, ” said Jim Cuff, SAIC senior vice president and head of business development. “Teaming with these companies, and combining our collective experience is key to innovation – this enables us to bring forward the solutions necessary for our customers to accomplish their critical missions, and gives us the ability to mutually build our businesses.”
