Monday’s Featured Job: Technical Manager – Systems Engineer at General Dynamics

Primary duties as assigned by Senior Engineering Manager.

Technical Manager’s responsibilities include workforce management, support to business execution, financial responsibility and a commitment to communication and teamwork. Foremost to this position is the ability to provide strong leadership and effectively communicate with the assigned workforce and establish effective interaction with Program Managers and engineering managemeny.
• Workforce management consists of attraction (recruitment), mentoring, career development, training and retention of the technical and support staff.
• Support to business execution will include interaction with program management staff to ensure technical performance and staffing needs are met along with HR and engineering organization interaction to identify and hire properly qualified individuals.

  • Also responsible for developing, maintaining and evaluation of performance criteria for assigned personnel.
  • Assist in development of and ensure compliance with training plans and adhere to GDAIS policies and procedures.

• Financial responsibilities will entail managing indirect (utilization rates), training, travel, and award dollars to a prescribed budget along with approving timecards.
Basic Qualifications The successful candidate will be a senior engineer with experience in management, financial analysis and possess strong leadership and communication skills. Must have experience in managing engineering staff with diverse engineering disciplines including software, electronics, network and hardware engineering.

  • Must have a basic understanding of GD-financial systems

• Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to interface with program and engineering management, Human Resources, and engineering staff
• Should have demonstrated extensive technical expertise in a degreed technical discipline, and have full knowledge of other related disciplines,

  • Demonstrated effectiveness to meet the managerial expectations including following GDAIS documented policies and procedures

• Familiarity with the Brassring recruiting tool is a plus.
