Dell Honored by Women’s Business Enterprise National Council

Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) has been selected by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as one of “America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises” in 2009.

The award is unique – the only in America commending corporations “for world-class programs that create level playing fields for women’s business enterprises (WBEs) to compete for corporate contracts and gain fair access to procurement opportunities.”

“Supplier diversity is a critical component of our supply chain strategy. We are honored by the recognition and will continue to ensure we create opportunities for women-owned businesses, while at the same time learning from these synergistic relationships , ” said Jens Gruenkemeier, director, Dell general procurement & global supplier diversity.

A result of Dell’s ongoing support of WBE’s, this is the second consecutive year that Dell has made the list.  In fiscal year 2008, Dell’s spending with women, small and minority-owned suppliers reached more than $2.5 billion.
