Development of the Nationwide Automatic Identification System Underway

Northrop Grumman Corporation and the U.S. Coast Guard recently completed a Critical Design Review (CDR) of Nationwide Automatic Identification System (Nationwide AIS). The CDR successfully determined that technical efforts would meet performance requirements without exceeding budget and scheduling constraints.

“By collaborating closely with the Coast Guard, we were able to complete the Nationwide AIS program critical design review three weeks ahead of schedule — and within budget, ” said Mike Twyman, vice president of Integrated Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence Systems for Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector.

Nationwide AIS is a two-way maritime digital communication system capable of checking vessel identity, destination, manifest, and cargo data. It will assist government intelligence agencies and authorized government operators by enhancing maritime situational awareness.
