Harris Corp Products Increasing Air Traffic Communication in the Philippines

Recently, Harris Corporation announced that their air traffic control and radio communications technology will provide critical services for a new control center in the Philippines. The control center based in Manila will connect with remote sites through the archipelago.

The Harris Liberty Star Voice Communication and Control System will be used to enhance communication between air traffic controllers and aircrafts flying into the region. The control center will also be using the Harris Integrated Radio Equipment and Network Adapter which links any radio and is ideal for isolated regions.

This is the first international sale of the Integrated Radio Equipment and Network Adapter.

“The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will realize significant flexibility and cost savings, since it won’t have to replace the entire communications infrastructure as network standards evolve, ” said John O’Sullivan, vice president of Mission Critical Networks for Harris Corporation. “Operators can continue to communicate using their legacy radio equipment and upgrade when they choose to do so. This contract reflects our continued success in modernizing global air traffic control operations.”
