Contract Award- QinetiQ – $61.4 Million – UK

QinetiQ has secured a contract from the British Ministry of Defence’s Defence Equipment and Support to continue supporting the Typhoon program, including covering release to service recommendations, crew protection and performance, mission system software support, technical and business support, and airworthiness and safety clearance.

The three-year contract is worth £31 million, which is approximately $61.4 million. Mike Howarth, managing director of QinetiQ’s managed services business, said “This contract recognizes the strategic role QinetiQ continues to have in the development and future operation of this aircraft, along with the operational savings we can help the MOD achieve. We are focused on cost effectively developing and delivering quality support that enables the Typhoon to operate safely and to enable new sophisticated modern systems to be integrated onto the aircraft.”

QinetiQ has been involved in the development of the Eurofighter Typhoon since its conception more than 20 years ago. Key tasks delivered include: providing independent Release to Service (RTS) safety recommendations; the technical review of Verification, Qualification and Certification (VQ&C) evidence; program risk reduction and recovery support activities; future capability/decision support; and the operation of strategic facilities for the MOD.
