The Department of Defense has awarded General Dynamics a contract to work on medical centers in the Washington, DC area. The contract, worth over $322 million, will involve work at sites in Washington, DC, Bethesda, MD and Fort Belvoir, VA.
Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide ‘outfitting and transition services’ for a new facility while helping to upgrade and renovate another facility. The contract is scheduled to be completed by November 2012. General Dynamics will work on the Walter Reed Medical Center and the Community Hospital at Fort Belvoir.
The new Walter Reed Medical Center will replace the current Walter Reed complex in Washington, DC and is being built next to the Naval Medical Center located in Bethesda, MD.
