Contract Award – Alion – $430 Million – U.S. Army

Tysons Corner, Va.-based technology-solutions company Alion Science and Technology has won a $430 million prime contract to support U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center work on military manned and unmanned ground vehicles.

Under the five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, Alion will provide systems engineering, integration capabilities and R&D support to TARDEC’s core business processes and areas of technical responsibility, including power and mobility, survivability, intelligent ground systems, vehicle electronics and architecture, force projection and system software.

“Improving the safety, versatility, fuel efficiency and effectiveness of ground vehicles is crucial to the success of our Warfighters in future conflicts, ” said Timer Keenan, Alion senior vice president and manager of the strategic operations group. “Alion has the technical and operational strengths to help TARDEC make those improvements, and we’ll look beyond the usual sources to find solutions. We may incorporate ideas from specialty manufacturers and the motor sports industry, for example, and we can bring in the right partners to help us fully develop those concepts.”

Formed in December 2002, Alion is an employee-owned company delivering technical expertise and operational support to the Department of Defense, civilian government agencies and commercial customers.
