On Thursday, Reality Mobile announced that it has secured $6.5 million in expansion capital in a round led by Energy Ventures and in conjunction with CTTV Investments LLC (the venture capital arm of Chevron Technology Ventures LLC) and communications investor, the Dobson Partnership. The funding will allow Reality Mobile to bring its enterprise-class real-time mobile collaboration platform into the energy sector, and launch a Houston office with sales and support staff.
All three funding partners were drawn to the unique features of Reality Mobileâs solution. The technology has clear applications in the broad range of industries where the ability to instantly connect high-value assets with the right expertise in real-time can mean the difference between success or failure. Its platform is already proven in the government and defense markets.
Reality Mobileâs software allows enterprise users to collectively visualize high-value assets and data with colleagues anywhere in the world. With the RealityVision® platform, users can securely transmit live video from virtually any camera source, from cell phones to high-definition cameras, and share it immediately with any and all system users. And using the RealityVision® ScreencastTM capability, users can stream a portion of their computer screen to anyone on the network.
âIn many industries, and especially in energy, experts are a strained commodity. Giving field teams visual access to the right experts in real time will improve and speed decision making, while helping companies avoid costly downtime and dangerous situations, â said Energy Ventures partner Leif André Skare. âReality Mobile allows organizations to immediately bring the right perspective to any issue and better leverage their highly skilled resources in situations where their expertise is both needed and critical to maintaining and improving operations.â
âRealityVision allows you to be in the same place as your colleagues around the world. Whether they are in the office interpreting data, or on a rig off the coast of Angola, you can bring key personnel to the same level of visual understanding of an asset with a push of a button, â said Reality Mobile chairman Patrick McVeigh. âThe expertise you need can be virtually by your side in moments.â
