News – Perot Systems, China’s Changsha Municipal Government sign healthcare IT agreement

On Monday, Perot Systems announced that it has signed a healthcare information technology agreement with the Changsha Municipal Government in the Hunan Province of China. The agreement calls for Perot Systems to develop a plan for a city-wide Regional Health Information Platform, and it includes coordination of planning for healthcare data centers and the creation of electronic health records (EHRs) for city residents.

“It is exciting to be part of the great vision and determination of the leaders of Changsha city to upgrade healthcare information technology services, with the goal of improving the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of care in the city. We applaud their approach to the country’s increasing focus on healthcare, ” said Perot Systems president and CEO Peter Altabef, who attended the agreement-signing ceremony. “Through our work with the Ministry of Health on national standard guidelines, the agreement between Changsha and Perot Systems can establish a blueprint that can guide and support the deployment of regional health IT platforms and digital hospitals in other provinces and cities throughout China.”

Perot Systems is currently the leading international vendor that is recognized for providing technology solutions that meet China’s national standards. In July of this year, Perot Systems announced an agreement with the Hunan Provincial Government through which the company intends to provide IT consulting services for healthcare organizations and public health initiatives throughout the province.

“Our global healthcare team is working closely with Changsha officials to build a Regional Health Information Platform that enhances healthcare services, ” said Chuck Lyles, president of Perot Systems Healthcare. “The city of Changsha is leading the way in utilizing technology to ensure that healthcare providers have the tools they need to effectively and efficiently care for their patients.”
