Today, General Dynamics announced that its information technology business unit has been awarded a contract by U.S. Department of Homeland Securityâs Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to develop secure credentials for immigrants seeking employment within the United States. The indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract has a maximum potential value of $22 million over five years.
The contract calls for General Dynamics to support the USCIS Employment Authorization Document Identification Card program by developing the design and security characteristics for the new counterfeit-resistant polycarbonate Employment Authorization Document, an identification card issued to legal U.S. immigrants to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the United States. Production will begin in 2010 once the design phase has been completed.
âGeneral Dynamics understands USCISâ increasing need to verify the identities of those working in the United States and to protect the American public from potential foreign threats, â said Marcus Collier, senior vice president of General Dynamics Information Technologyâs Civilian and Homeland Security Solutions Division. âWe will partner with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to use our expertise to support that need.â
