Kundra Requests Overview Of Current Management Methods

The first Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra has requested that the Federal Knowledge Management Working Group conduct an extensive review of all government agencies regarding how they collect and share data, and what applications and methods are used for which projects. Jeanne Holm, co-chair of the working group,  announced Kundra’s request at the Open Government and Innovations Conference held in D.C.

Kundra hopes to find positive applications and practices used on a smaller scale that can then be applied in a larger setting, according to Holm. The goal is not necessarily to apply a new technology on a much larger scale, but to find a new  approach or technique that would make the overall government more efficient.

The Federal Knowledge Management Working Group is an independent group of over 700 employees from the fields of academia, contracting and public interests. The Federal Knowledge Management Working Group originally fell under the Federal CIO Council and has since become an independent entity.
