BAE Wins $42M U.S. Army Contract for Window Kits

BAE Systems has received a contract from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command to supply Vehicle Emergency Escape (VEE) Window Kits. The contract, worth an estimated $42 million, will have BAE providing 5, 325 of the VEE kits to the U.S. Army.

The VEE window technology is designed to allow for soldiers to quickly and safely exit a vehicle in the case of an emergency by merely releasing and pushing out the front window.

“The VEE Window features simple, life-saving technology, which enables soldiers to evacuate from a vehicle emergency in seconds and is a proven, valuable safeguard for our troops, ” said Mark Signorelli, vice president and general manager of New Vehicles & Amphibious Systems for BAE Systems.

The kits are a main piece in the Army’s Fragmentation Kit Seven being used to improve safety on the up-armored M1151 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV). The simplicity of the VEE kits allow for minimal maintenance and upkeep and installation that can be performed in the field by Army and Marine maintenance crews.
