TYSONS CORNER, VA, Oct. 11, 2016 — The U.S. Navy has commissioned the Huntington Ingalls Industries-built USS John P. Murtha amphibious transport dock ship Saturday in Pennsylvania with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as the keynote speaker, Executive Gov reported Monday.
The Tribune-Democrat reported Saturday that Ed Sheehan, president and CEO of Concurrent Technologies Corp., presented a Pittsburgh Steelers helmet signed by football team owner Dan Rooney, who is also a friend of the late lawmaker John Murtha, during the commissioning ceremony.
The helmet will be displayed aboard the ship along with other items in honor of the congressman.
