L-3 Closes Purchase of RF, Electronic Warfare Business Micreo; Michael Strianese Comments


acquisition,  mergerL-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has wrapped up its purchase of Australia-based radiofrequency and electronic warfare platforms provider Micreo for an undisclosed sum.

The newly acquired company will operate as L-3 Micreo that is forecast to generate $27 million in annual sales for the year ending Dec. 31, 2017 and will report to L-3 TRL Technology under the New York-based communications and electronics firm’s integrated sensor systems sector, L-3 said Monday.

L-3 Chairman and CEO Michael Strianese said he expects the acquisition to help expand L-3’s presence in Australia and complement its electronic warfare offerings.

Micreo CEO Tim Shaw will serve as executive director of the business under L-3 ownership..

L-3 first announced its intent to acquire Micreo in early September as part of a push to grow core business footprints in Australia.

L-3 Micreo will base its headquarters in Brisbane, Queensland and its approximately 70 employees will focus on the design and production of photonic and RF products for EW and radar systems designed for integration with military ships and aircraft.
