Johns Hopkins APL Builds Prototype of Submersible, Corrosion-Resistant UAV


droneTYSONS CORNER, VA, March 21, 2016 — Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory has built an unmanned aerial vehicle that can also operate underwater or launch from the sea, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

The lab said Thursday it built a prototype of the Corrosion Resistant Aerial Covert Unmanned Nautical System using additive manufacturing methods.

CRACUNS is also equipped with an airframe that works to help resist damage from exposure to saltwater and water pressure.
