Huntington Ingalls Gets $205M Navy Contract Modification for Aircraft Carrier Refueling, Overhaul


Huntington Ingalls HIIHuntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) has secured a potential one-year, $205.1 million contract modification to perform planning work in support of the refueling and complex overhaul program for the U.S. Navy’s USS George Washington aircraft carrier.

The modification also covers design, engineering, ship checks, documentation and preliminary shipyard support services in preparation for the RCOH work on the vessel, the Defense Department said Friday.

The company will perform work at its facility in Newport News, Virginia, through February 2017.

The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $185.3 million from fiscal 2015 conversion and shipbuilding funds at the time of award, according to DoD.

The contract comes a year after the service branch awarded HII a potential $224 million contract modification to provide refueling support, update the ship and supply pumps, valves and other materials for the structural fabrication of the vessel.
