Tom Sorel, formerly vice president of Twin Cities operations at KLJ Engineering, has joined Serco Inc. as VP and program director of surface transportation for the company.
He will oversee Serco’s efforts to expand the transportation business into government programs and develop industry best practices for key projects, Serco said Friday.
Sorel was most recently responsible for KLJ Engineering’s development of market initiatives to deliver engineering services to customers.
He previously served as president and CEO of AAA Minneapolis before he joined KLJ.
Prior to joining the private sector, Sorel held various government roles with the Minnesota Transportation Department, Federal Highway Administration and FHWA Minnesota Division Office.
He was also a member of the Transportation Research Board executive committee and the Intelligent Transportation Society board of directors.
