The company will upgrade the electronic attack capabilities of AN/SLQ-32(V) EW systems under the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program Block 3 program, the Defense Department said Monday.
Northrop will carry out the task in Maryland, California and Virginia through January 2017.
Northrop designed the EW system using an open-system approach under the previous contract awarded in February.
The shipboard combat system is built to conduct detection, signal analysis, threat warning and anti-ship missile protection.
