7 US Allies Order AeroVironment Unmanned Aircraft Systems


RavenThe U.S. Army has awarded AeroVironment an $18.5 million foreign military sales contract to manufacture small unmanned aerial vehicles for seven U.S. partner nations.

AeroVironment said Tuesday it will deliver an undisclosed number of RQ-11B Raven drones as well as spares and logistics support services under the firm-fixed-price contract.

Raven is designed to be launched by hand and perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions at a low altitudes.

The 4.2-pound UAV also works with a ground control system and helps operators gain an aerial observation coverage of up to 6.2 miles, AeroVironment noted.
