Raytheon Awarded $492M in AIM-9X Block II Missile Production, Upgrade Contracts


Raytheon logoRaytheon (NYSE: RTN) will produce and engineer AIM-9X Block II short-range air-to-air missile systems for the U.S. Navy and allied nations under two contracts worth a combined $491.8 million.

The first contract has a $264.8 million ceiling value over five years and covers missile software and hardware development, integration and testing support services for an AIM-9X system improvement project, the Defense Department said Friday.

The company will also incorporate new system updates into the 17th and 19th batches of the missile through the contract and the Navy is obligating $46, 424, 785 at the time of award from research, development, test, evaluation and foreign military sales funds.

Under a separate $227 million contract modification, Raytheon will perform 15th lot full-rate production of 447 Block II all-round up tactical missiles as well as multiple special and captive air training missiles, containers and spares.

The Navy will provide full amount at the time of award and DoD expects the company to complete Lot 15 production work in December 2017.
