Lockheed Receives Work on UK Desert Hawk Core Support Program


lockheed martinTYSONS CORNER, VA September 18, 2015 — The British defense ministry has picked Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to help transition the Desert Hawk unmanned aerial system to become part of the U.K.’s core defense platform.

Lockheed said the contract comes amid a growing need for drones in changing environments and a $250 billion defense equipment push by the British government.

“Desert Hawk has served the U.K. military well in providing intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance to tactical warfighters, ” said Jay McConville, director of business development for unmanned solutions at Lockheed Martin.

“We look forward to continuing this record of success through the award of the Desert Hawk Core Support Program and we continue to enhance its capabilities based on user feedback.”
