Army Vet John Davis Joins Palo Alto Networks as Federal Chief Security Officer

John Davis, a retired major general at the U.S. Army, has joined Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW) as federal chief security officer and will focus on cybersecurity programs.

The company said Monday Davis will oversee the implementation of cybersecurity initiatives and policies at international public sector organizations.

He served as senior military adviser for cyber to the defense undersecretary for policy and acting deputy assistant defense secretary for cyber policy at the Defense Department before his retirement in May.

Palo Alto Networks added it also appointed Sir Iain Lobban, a member of Standard Chartered Bank‘s board financial crime risk committee, as a member of its public sector advisory council.

“These two incredibly distinguished public servants, each with deep cybersecurity expertise, will be tremendous allies in our efforts to prevent cyber attacks around the world through the strategic combination of people, process and technology, ” said Mark McLaughlin, president and CEO of Palo Alto Networks.
