Richard Steranka, a more than 25-year sales and channel management veteran, has joined Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) as leader of worldwide channels at the company’s security business unit.

He will report to Scott Lovett, senior vice president of global sales for Intel’s security group, and manage the organization’s partnerships with computer security software distributors, embedded original equipment manufacturers, value-added resellers and managed service providers, Intell said Monday.

“Staying relevant and on the offense is imperative so that our partners can not only reach their own profitability goals, but also better protect our mutual customers from next-generation cyber threats, ” said Steranka.

He most recently oversaw go-to-market strategies for Avaya‘s (NYSE: AV) Connect Partner program and has helped establish the program’s value-based incentive structure.

Before Avaya, he worked in sales, marketing, channel and operations leadership roles at Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO).
