State Dept OKs $245M TOW 2A Missile Sale to Lebanon


TOW-missileThe State Department has cleared Lebanon’s request to procure tube-launched, optically tracked, wireless-guided 2A missiles, related components and services from the U.S. for use in homeland defense operations under a potential $245 million foreign military sales contract.

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) will be the primary contractor for the sale that includes 1, 000 TOW 2A missiles, 50 M220A2 TOW launchers, 500 BGM-71-H-1-RF TOW Bunker Buster missiles, spare parts and containers, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

The FMS agreement also covers support tools, training resources, documentation, logistics support and other technical services.

DSCA said it notified Congress of the potential sale Tuesday.
