BAE Captures Repair, Maintenance Work on USS Iwo Jima


Bae systems logo_ExecutiveBizTYSONS CORNER, VA July 15, 2015 — BAE Systems has landed a $27 million contract to refurbish the Wasp-class USS Iwo Jima amphibious vessel’s tank, ventilation and auxiliary systems and other structural repairs, alterations and upgrades, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

BAE said it expects work on the phased maintenance at Naval Station Mayport to end by July 2016.

“Our men and women are eager to leverage their expertise and get to work on the ship in support of the Navy and Marine Corps, ” said David Thomas, BAE Systems director of ship repair at Jacksonville and Mayport.
