Nevin Carr, formerly vice president at AECOM (NYSE: ACM), has joined Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) as vice president and U.S. Navy strategic account executive.

The retired rear admiral will oversee the company’s efforts to identify and execute strategic initiatives meant to help clients achieve mission goals, and grow Leidos’ naval and maritime business, Leidos said Monday.

Michael Leiter, Leidos executive VP for business development and strategy, said Carr’s 34-year U.S. Navy career would help to bolster the company’s customer relationships and support for the Navy.

Carr previously served as chief of the Office of Naval Research and director of test and evaluation and technology requirements before he retired from the Navy in 2012.

He was the commander of USS Arleigh Burke and USS Cape St. George, deputy director of surface warfare for combat systems and deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for international programs.

Carr served as a senior adviser at McKinsey & Co. and visiting scholar at Stanford University.
