Carlos Otal, a 10-year veteran of Grant Thornton, has been named managing partner at the company’s global public sector practice.
He most recently led the practice’s financial management advisory and audit services division and succeeds Srikant Sastry, who now serves as national managing principal for the advisory services practice, Grant Thornton said Tuesday.
Otal managed the firm’s financial management support work for the departments of Defense, Treasury and Energy as well as the Office of Personnel Management, Social Security Administration and the state of California.
He previously served as a senior industry executive at Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL), an associate partner at IBM‘s (NYSE: IBM) business consulting services unit and a senior manager at PwC.
The nearly 25-year industry veteran is a member of the Association of Government Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
