FAA Awards SAIC Potential $727M Air Traffic Control Training Services Contract


airport towerScience Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) has been awarded a potential five-year, $727 million contract to help the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration train new air traffic controllers.

The company will provide program management, classroom and laboratory training, simulation, student performance monitoring, technology support and curriculum development, maintenance and revision services, SAIC said Monday.

Dan Harris, senior vice president and general manager of the SAIC’s federal civilian customer group, said the company aims to introduce new instructional tools and methods to the agency through the program.

The single-award contract contains three base years and two option years and work will occur at the FAA Academy in Washington and at agency-run air traffic control facilities throughout the U.S.

SAIC said the agency is looking to hire up to 6, 000 new controllers over the next five years.
